Launched in 1943, the former aircraft carrier USS Intrepid served the U.S. Navy for over three decades. It fought in World War II, surviving five kamikaze attacks and one torpedo strike. The ship later served in the Cold War and the Vietnam War and also as a NASA recovery vessel in the 1960s. Scores of Norwich alumni served on this carrier during its storied career.
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum opened in 1982 to honor our heroes and educate the public. It provides a unique and distinguished setting for Norwich's New York City Gala. The program will include a special appearance by the USO Troupe.
LtGen John J. Broadmeadow USMC, NU'83 will be the distinguished guest speaker. The program will also include a special appearance by the USO Troupe.
