Dear classmates,
You have no doubt seen that colleges and universities across the US are having a very difficult time financially as a result of COVID-19. Norwich is in good shape because of the great work of President Emeritus Schneider but the university is certainly not in the clear. This pandemic has raised many uncertainties that could greatly impact the university. There is a great need now, more than ever, particularly in scholarships for current and future students.
We set a goal to have 65% of our classmates donate to Norwich to celebrate our 55th Reunion. Thus far, 55% have made a donation. Thank you for your contribution to our effort. Since you have already made your reunion gift, will you consider an additional one-time gift or establishing a multi-year pledge?
Larry Bailey, Chairman of the Gift Committee, and Joel Kobert have generously offered to match all new gifts up to $40,000 between now and October 3, 2020. Your gift will help us secure the entire $40,000 match. If you are looking to make the biggest impact with your gift, the Schneider Legacy Project is a great vehicle to provide help to students. You can find more information about the project here. However, gifts to most funds, including gifts to athletic programs, are eligible.
In addition to the matching gift from Larry and Joel, George Lyons has offered a challenge gift as part of the 2020 Make Norwich Forever Homecoming Challenge. When 600 people make a gift to the Schneider Legacy Project before October 3, his $75,000 gift will be unlocked. We have arranged early access to the challenge for the Class of 1965. Our early gifts will help build momentum for the 600 donor goal. Let's see a strong showing from the Class of 1965!
It’s a real bummer that COVID has forced us to cancel our October festivities. Please mark your calendars for September 23-26, 2021, the new rescheduled date for our 55th, and plan to attend what will probably be our last major blow out!
We are proud of Norwich and feel that our graduates provide outstanding leadership for business, industry and the military. We all feel that the US is a better place as a result of Norwich people. Let’s ensure Norwich can continue its legacy.
