Women Kicking Glass Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways to get involved with Women Kicking Glass.
We welcome alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends to volunteer as we build connections and strengthen the Norwich community around the world. Whether you have a few minutes to offer or are ready to lead a project, there are volunteer opportunities to meet your availability and interests.

Programming
Breakout Sessions
- Propose topics for six breakout sessions—two each around the themes Connect, Grow and Lead.
- Identify and recruit presenters for breakout topics.
- Determine audiovisual needs.
- Serve as a host, timekeeper or troubleshooter during sessions.
Lunch Icebreaker and Panel Discussion
- Help identify or facilitate a 30-minute networking or icebreaker activity for approximately 150 participants.
- Propose a topic for a 50-minute panel discussion.
- Identify and recruit panelists.
- Determine audiovisual needs.
- Serve as a host or timekeeper during the panel and Q&A.
Ask Me Anything (AMA) Area
- Identify and recruit subject-matter experts to attend the Friday reception and staff a table on Saturday.
- Help determine setup needs.
Welcoming and Hospitality
Before the Event
- Stuff swag bags.
- Assist with room décor and setup.
During the Event
- Greet attendees at the Friday night social and Saturday conference.
- Assist with registration and check-in.
- Answer questions and direct guests.
- Assist with cleanup and packing.
Raffle and Silent Auction
- Coordinate with staff to solicit raffle and auction donations.
- Arrange delivery of donated items.
- Organize and catalog items.
- Create bidding sheets for auction items.
- Manage raffle ticket sales.
- Coordinate winner announcements and prize distribution.
Sponsorship
- Work with staff to identify potential sponsors, underwriters and advertisers through personal and professional networks.
- Contact local businesses about sponsorship opportunities and swag bag items.
- Encourage organizations to purchase tables and tickets.
- Assist with sponsor recognition and benefits fulfillment.

Book Selection
- Identify books that fit the scope of the project.
- Read suggested books and provide recommendations to the committee.
- Explore opportunities for engagement beyond book discussions, such as author appearances and activities related to book themes.
Discussion Planning
- Assist with author outreach and invitations to participate in book discussions.
- Help develop discussion questions.
- Rotate or share responsibility for facilitating book club discussions.
- Gather participant feedback after meetings.

Clothing Collection Drive
- Promote the donation drive through your NU Club and local community.
- Serve as a clothing drop-off location.
- Pick up, deliver or mail donations to campus.
Sorting and Organization
- Assist with sorting and hanging clothing during organized on-campus work sessions throughout the year.
Event Support
- Help with event setup the weekend before the event.
- Assist students with clothing selection and return clothing to racks during the event.
- Help sort clothing and pack racks, dressing rooms and supplies for storage after the event.
- Provide feedback to help improve future events.

- Help identify and solicit subjects for quarterly profiles.

- Promote the award and nomination process through NU Clubs and personal networks.
- Research and review nominations.
- Present recommendations to the Women Kicking Glass board for a vote.
- Contact the honoree and request a biography and photo for promotion.
