Norwich University’s ring tradition began in Spring 1923, when the senior cadets had a ring made for each member who would graduate in June. Traditions, designs and sizes of the ring have evolved over the past 100 years, but one thing has stayed constant:
the pride every graduate feels for having earned their Norwich class ring.
The Spirit of the Ring Fund
The Norwich ring symbolizes pride and perseverance, triumph and tradition. In celebration of Norwich University Corps of Cadets’ 100-year ring tradition, a new fund has been created to reflect the spirit of the Norwich ring. The intent is to support deserving students and alumni who have met the standards and requirements to earn their Norwich ring. Donors can contribute to the Corps of Cadets Ring Fund or the Civilian Ring Fund.
Contributions to the Spirit of the Ring Fund will support two initiatives:
50% of financial contributions will be designated for assisting deserving students obtain their ring, or to assist alumni replace a ring due to extreme circumstances (such as a flood, fire, etc.) Consideration for support will be on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of the Commandant of Cadets and Vice President of Development & Alumni Relations.
50% of financial contributions will be designated for the Spirit of the Ring Scholarship which will help bridge financial need and keep deserving Juniors and Seniors enrolled. Consideration for support will be on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of the Commandant of Cadets and the Office of Financial Aid.
