hree years ago, none of us likely anticipated living through a pandemic, much less one for this long. And yet, here we are, still navigating its challenges while carrying on with daily life. Thanks to dedicated and generous friends like you, Norwich University has not only survived this turbulent period but also thrived. I am proud to report that, with your partnership, we surpassed our annual fundraising goal of $9 million for fiscal year 2022, having raised $11,488,733. Your inspiring support serves as the bedrock of our mission, further enabling the caliber of academic and leadership opportunities for which Norwich has long been known.
For fiscal year 2023, we remain focused on a strong close to the Shoulder-to-Shoulder fundraising initiative. With less than $4 million left to reach our goal of $28 million by May 31, 2023, we are further concentrating on the Norwich Fund. This flexible source of funding gives Norwich the agility to address top priorities and emerging needs as they arise. There is no better example of this than the COVID 19 pandemic, which compelled Norwich to approach teaching, learning, and operating in an entirely new way. Empowered by the Norwich Fund, we continue to meet challenges head on, keeping the campus safe while also upholding our tradition of discipline, service, and distinction.
Throughout this report, you will find stories of some of Norwich's most passionate supporters. We are moved by these individuals and their commitment to shaping the next generation of leaders. Whether supporting the Norwich Fund, scholarships, or academic enrichment opportunities, they have truly answered the call to keep Norwich at the cusp of innovation and excellence.
